Job Description

DUTIES, RESPONSBILITIES & OUTPUTS

1. Legal Compliance: Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting accounting practices and ensure the firm's compliance with relevant statutes, regulations, and industry standards.

2. Risk Management: Identify and assess legal risks associated with the firm's operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.

3. Contract Management: Oversee the drafting, negotiation, and review of contracts with clients, vendors, and partners to protect the firm's interests and ensure compliance with legal requirements.

4. Litigation Management: Manage any legal disputes or litigation involving the firm, including working with external legal counsel when necessary, to achieve favorable outcomes.

5. Corporate Governance: Provide guidance on corporate governance matters, including board governance, ethics, and compliance with corporate policies and procedures.

6. Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of regulatory developments in the accounting industry and advise the firm on compliance with relevant regulations issued by regulatory bodies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB).

7. Mergers and Acquisitions: Provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, including due diligence, transaction structuring, and contract negotiation.

8. Internal Legal Advice: Provide legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, including executives, department heads, and employees, on a wide range of legal issues affecting the firm's operations.

9. Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs on legal and compliance topics to ensure that employees across the organization understand their legal obligations and responsibilities.

10. Policy Development: Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and promote best practices in corporate governance and risk management.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualification Standards

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
Minimum of [X] years of experience practicing law, with a focus on corporate law, securities law, or related fields.
Experience working in or with CPA firms or financial services firms preferred.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulations.
