Job Description
The Employee Relations Specialist is a key partner in fostering a positive and legally compliant work environment. This role is responsible for managing employee engagement programs, addressing employee grievances, ensuring adherence to Philippine labor laws, and promoting open communication across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate brings at least two years of hands-on experience in employee relations and has a strong working knowledge of labor compliance requirements in the Philippines.
Key Responsibilities:
Employee Engagement & Workplace Culture
Plan and implement employee engagement programs that promote a positive work environment and drive job satisfaction.
Conduct employee feedback initiatives such as surveys, focus group discussions, and pulse checks to assess morale and recommend improvements.
Grievance Management & Conflict Resolution
Serve as the primary contact for employee grievances and workplace concerns.
Lead impartial investigations, mediate conflicts, and ensure timely resolution aligned with company policies and Philippine labor standards.
Labor Relations & Legal Compliance
Ensure adherence to Philippine labor laws (DOLE, SSS, PhilHealth, HDMF, etc.) and company policies.
Advise management on disciplinary actions, employment rights, and regulatory compliance.
Assist in managing union-related concerns and maintaining harmonious labor relations.
Policy Development & Implementation
Assist in the creation, review, and rollout of employee relations policies and procedures.
Ensure effective communication of policies to all employees and support their practical application in daily operations.
Training & Awareness
Conduct workshops and training sessions for employees and leaders on conflict resolution, workplace behavior, labor compliance, and internal grievance procedures.
Build awareness and understanding of company rules, employee rights, and support systems.
Employee Advocacy & Support
Act as a trusted advisor and advocate for employee concerns, promoting transparency, respect, and open dialogue between staff and leadership.
Provide guidance on available support resources to ensure employee well-being.
Exit Interviews & Retention Insights
Conduct exit interviews and analyze trends to identify potential retention risks and recommend improvements.
Share actionable insights to enhance employee experience and reduce turnover.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of grievances, disciplinary actions, resolutions, and engagement activities.
Prepare regular reports on employee relations metrics, compliance issues, and engagement trends.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
Additional certifications in labor law or employee relations are an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in employee relations, grievance handling, and labor compliance.
Exposure to a fast-paced industry such as retail is highly preferred.
Proven conflict resolution and mediation skills.
Skills & Competencies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization.
In-depth knowledge of Philippine labor laws and regulatory requirements.
An analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex situations and implement effective solutions.
Experience with training facilitation and HR information systems (HRIS).
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
