Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Lead legal matters related to land acquisition, real estate transactions, and contract management for construction projects, specifically in the power plant industry.
Oversee due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
Draft, review, and negotiate land acquisition agreements, leases, joint venture agreements, and other related contracts.
Provide strategic legal advice to senior management and project teams regarding land and real estate issues, including zoning, permitting, title verification, and land rights.
Conduct legal research and stay current on developments in Philippine real estate law, energy regulations, and construction laws relevant to power plants.
Liaise with external counsel, government agencies, and other stakeholders on land-related matters.
Assist in managing disputes, if any, arising from land acquisition and contract execution.
Supervise and mentor junior legal staff or external legal support as needed.
Ensure adherence to compliance requirements for all transactions, including environmental laws, land ownership regulations, and project documentation.
Manage administrative tasks related to land and real estate matters as required.
Travel to project sites as needed for legal matters or contract negotiations.
Qualifications:
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree.
Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience, particularly in land acquisition, real estate law, contract management, and due diligence.
Strong background in the power generation industry, particularly related to land acquisition for construction of power plants, is highly preferred.
Leadership experience, with a proven ability to manage legal teams and interact with senior management.
Skills:
Strong understanding of Philippine land laws, real estate regulations, and energy sector regulations.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple legal matters simultaneously.
Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
Proficient in legal research and utilizing legal tools to support decision-making.
Personal Attributes:
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Proactive and solution-oriented with a strong business acumen.
Willing to take on administrative tasks and travel frequently for project-related matters.
Preferred:
Experience in land acquisitions for the construction of power plants or energy-related infrastructure projects in the Philippines.
Knowledge of land development processes and government regulations related to power plant projects in the country.
