Job Description
The Security Manager is responsible for developing and overseeing the security operations of an organization. This role involves protecting personnel, assets, information, and infrastructure through strategic planning, risk management, and coordination with internal departments and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Security Strategy and Policy
Develop and implement security policies, protocols, and procedures.
Regularly review and update the organization’s security plan to adapt to new threats or changes in operations.
2. Personnel and Facility Protection
Manage access control, surveillance, and alarm systems.
Oversee physical security of all company facilities, including offices, warehouses, or remote sites.
3. Incident Management
Lead the response to security incidents, emergencies, or breaches.
Conduct investigations and produce detailed incident reports with recommended corrective actions.
4. Risk Assessment and Mitigation
Perform regular risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities.
Recommend and implement security upgrades or corrective actions to reduce risks.
5. Team Management
Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise security staff.
Monitor team performance and conduct regular training on emergency procedures and security protocols.
6. Compliance and Reporting
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal security regulations.
Maintain accurate records of incidents, audits, and safety drills.
7. Budget Management
Manage the security department’s budget, including equipment, staffing, and training costs.
8. Collaboration and Liaison
Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency services.
Work closely with HR, IT, and facilities management to align on safety and data protection strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, Security Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Professional certifications preferred (e.g., CPP – Certified Protection Professional, PSP – Physical Security Professional).
- 5+ years of experience in security management or law enforcement.
- Strong knowledge of security protocols, emergency procedures, and relevant legislation.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with security systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, intrusion detection).
