Job Description: Australian Accountant (TAX)

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant with proven experience in the Australian tax system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance, reporting, and advisory services. You will be responsible for preparing and managing tax returns, ensuring compliance with Australian tax laws, and providing accurate and timely tax-related advice to clients or the organization. This role is essential in helping our clients navigate the complex tax landscape while optimizing their tax position.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review individual, corporate, trust, and partnership tax returns in compliance with Australian tax laws and regulations.
Advise clients on tax planning and strategies, including minimization of liabilities and maximizing available deductions.
Conduct tax research on current and emerging issues, staying updated on changes to tax legislation and policy.
Assist with audits, including liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and resolving any discrepancies.
Prepare and review financial statements and ensure accurate reporting for tax purposes.
Provide guidance on Goods and Services Tax (GST), payroll tax, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and other state and federal taxes.
Coordinate with clients and external stakeholders to gather necessary documentation for tax compliance.
Monitor and manage tax filing deadlines to ensure timely submission and avoidance of penalties.
Assist with the preparation of tax provisions and quarterly tax filings.
Identify tax opportunities and risks, providing recommendations for tax savings or risk mitigation.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in tax accounting within the Australian market.
In-depth knowledge of Australian tax legislation, including corporate tax, GST, FBT, and payroll tax.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of ATO guidelines and regulations.
Prior experience in a public accounting firm is a plus.
