Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented AU Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling financial operations, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, and providing accurate financial reports. The AU Accountant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to manage tax obligations, bookkeeping, and financial analysis to support business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain financial records in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Conduct bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger accounts.
Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations, including GST, BAS, PAYG, and corporate tax filings.
Assist in the preparation of annual financial audits and liaise with auditors as needed.
Provide financial analysis and insights to support management in decision-making.
Manage payroll processing and ensure compliance with Australian employment tax laws.
Stay up to date with changes in tax regulations, accounting standards, and financial legislation in Australia.
Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting procedures and improve efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Australia or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification is highly preferred but not required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably within an Australian company or working with Australian clients.
Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws, ATO compliance, and accounting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in an accounting firm specializing in Australian businesses.
Understanding of Superannuation, Single Touch Payroll (STP), and other Australian payroll compliance requirements.
Experience with financial forecasting and strategic financial planning.
