Job Description

The Retail Credit Officer is responsible for evaluating and managing loan channeling partnership
applications and for other retail credit products and ensure all documentary requirements are complete.
This position involves assessing applicants’ creditworthiness, ensuring compliance with internal policies,
and maintaining risk management standards. The role requires close attention to detail, analytical skills,
and the ability to make sound decisions that balance customer needs with the bank’s risk exposure.

Responsibility
• Credit Evaluation: Review and assess retail customer applications for loan channeling partnership
and for other consumer credit products, using credit scoring models and financial documentation.
• Risk Analysis: Analyze customer financial profiles, including credit reports, income, expenses, and
other relevant data, to assess credit risk and make informed credit decisions.
• Documentation: Ensures all documentary requirements are submitted during application and
ensure all documentary requirements for yearly updating will be submitted and on-hand.
• Decision Making: Decline, or recommend adjustments to retail credit applications based on
credit policies and risk tolerance.
• Customer Interaction: Communicate with loan channeling partners to clarify credit application
details, request additional information, and provide updates on their application status.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of approved credit accounts, identify early
warning signs of potential defaults, and recommend solutions to mitigate credit risk.
• Compliance and Regulations: Ensure all credit decisions adhere to the bank’s internal policies,
industry regulations, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., anti-money laundering laws, fair lending
practices).
• Reporting: Generate and maintain detailed reports on credit approvals, declines, and
outstanding accounts, providing insights on portfolio quality and trends.
• Credit Policy Review: Collaborate with Retail Lending Manager to update and refine credit
policies based on market conditions, regulatory changes, and risk exposure.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as BD, collections, and legal to ensure
a seamless customer experience and effective resolution of credit-related issues.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in retail credit analysis, lending, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of credit risk, documentary requirements, consumer lending practices, and
financial statements.
• Proficiency in using credit risk assessment tools and financial modeling.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting consumer lending (e.g., fair lending, data
protection).
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with
customers and internal stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills:
• Experience in retail banking or consumer finance industry.
• Familiarity with credit scoring models, credit risk management tools, and loan management
systems
