Operations Manager (Freight Forwarding)

Key Accountabilities

Handle and oversee all freight forwarding service offerings including but not limited to ocean/ air freight operations, procurement, projects and product development.
Setup and oversee a freight team handling import/export/customs/trucking/billing
Promote a continuous improvement approach to the processes striving towards operations excellence.
Team motivation and development.
Oversee execution of operational finance
Oversee agencies in neighboring countries
Setup and oversee land side capabilities to handle project cargo
Liaise with overseas network of offices and agents
Ensure there is adequate resources - skilled manpower and equipment to meet daily operations
Establish key performance indicators for the department and monitor performance against operating goals
Promote prompt, smooth and efficient dialogue between stakeholders, cargo agents, shipping lines, authorities and the logistics operations to maintain strong and professional relationships with customers and ensure logistics hub meets pro-forma productivity
Provide high level customer relations and services; and ensure compliance with DP World policies and procedures

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years’ experience in freight forwarding operations with at least the last 5 years in managerial position
Experience setting up freight forwarding/ logistics operations department is an advantage
Willing to work in a start-up environment and able to manage ambiguity well
Action and results-oriented
Proficient in spoken and written English
Onsite work set up (Mon-Fri)
