Job Description

Work Setup: Remote | Part-Time (Around 10 hours/week)
Time Zone: Eastern Standard Time (Preferred working hours: 12 PM to 4 PM EST, flexible within this window)
Contract Type: Project-Based (with opportunity to transition into standard contract)
Rate: USD 5-6 per hour

ROLE OVERVIEW
Our client, a long-established hospitality business with a unique nautical/pirate-themed bar, is looking for a creative and self-motivated Social Media Manager to take over and elevate their digital presence. This part-time, remote position is ideal for someone who enjoys developing engaging, community-oriented content and understands how to organically attract and grow an audience in a local events/hospitality context.

The business currently operates primarily through Facebook and Instagram, with a strong emphasis on weekly events and daily specials. As the owner is preparing for maternity leave, she’s seeking a capable professional who can work independently, bring new ideas to the table, and help drive foot traffic to the bar without heavy reliance on paid ads—at least initially.

RESPONSIBILITIES
● Content Creation & Scheduling:
○ Develop and schedule engaging social media content for Facebook and Instagram
○ Post weekly event calendars and daily promotions/specials
○ Ensure content aligns with the brand’s pirate/nautical theme and appeals to the local clientele
○ Maintain a consistent posting schedule using Meta Business Suite
● Community Engagement:
○ Respond to comments and messages in a timely and friendly manner (as needed)
○ Monitor page activity and audience engagement
● Strategy & Initiative:
○ Recommend creative content ideas to boost organic reach and drive foot traffic
○ Identify opportunities for improvements based on platform analytics
○ Suggest future use of paid advertising and execute when approved

KEY QUALIFICATIONS
● Experience:
○ At least 2 years of social media management experience (hospitality, food &
beverage, or events industry preferred)
○ Proven success driving organic engagement and community growth on
Facebook and Instagram

● Skills:
○ Strong written English and visual content sense (graphic design tools like Canva
or similar is a plus)
○ Proficiency with Meta Business Suite for content scheduling and performance
monitoring
○ Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimal direction

● Other:
○ Must be reliable and responsive during scheduled hours (EST afternoon)
○ Understanding of branding and audience tone, especially in casual/local
community-focused environments

● Nice to Have
○ Experience with light video editing or social reels
○ Background in hospitality or event promotion
○ Prior experience managing themed or niche brands
○ Familiarity with paid advertising on Meta (Facebook/Instagram) for future growth planning
