Job Description
1. Procurement Strategy and Planning
Develop short- and long-term procurement strategies in alignment with organizational goals.
Conduct demand planning with department heads to forecast procurement needs.
Identify opportunities to centralize procurement and improve purchasing power.
Align procurement activities with corporate sustainability goals (green procurement).
2. Supplier Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
Conduct supplier audits and business reviews.
Develop supplier scorecards and performance improvement plans.
Resolve disputes and performance issues diplomatically.
3. Contract Negotiation and Administration
Negotiate pricing, terms, warranties, and service agreements.
Ensure all procurement contracts are legally sound and minimize organizational risk.
Manage the lifecycle of vendor contracts from initiation to renewal or termination.
4. Procurement Compliance and Governance
Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and external regulatory requirements.
Maintain transparency, fairness, and ethical standards in the procurement process.
Address issues like conflict of interest, bribery, and fraud prevention.
Participate in audits and internal controls related to procurement.
5. Digital Procurement and Automation
Implement procurement software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Coupa).
Streamline procurement workflows through automation (e-procurement, digital POs).
Use data analytics and dashboards to monitor procurement performance.
Stay current with emerging technologies like AI in procurement, blockchain for traceability, etc.
6. Risk Management
Identify risks in the supply chain (e.g., single-source suppliers, geopolitical risks).
Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions.
Conduct market and supplier risk assessments.
7. Cost Management and Value Generation
Benchmark pricing to ensure competitive sourcing.
Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality.
Analyze total cost of ownership (TCO) instead of just purchase price.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with legal, finance, operations, production, logistics, and quality teams.
Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Participate in new product development and launch by ensuring timely procurement.
9. Team Management and Leadership
Hire, train, and mentor procurement staff.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and high performance.
Conduct performance reviews and succession planning.
10. Reporting and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Track KPIs such as:
Purchase price variance (PPV)
Supplier on-time delivery rate
Procurement cycle time
Cost savings achieved
Contract compliance rate
Provide reports to senior leadership on procurement status and challenges.
