Job Description
1. Design & Development
- Design complex electrical systems, circuits, and components for industrial, commercial, or residential use.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics and layout drawings using CAD software.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards (e.g., NEC, IEC), and safety regulations.
2. Project Management
- Lead and coordinate electrical engineering projects from concept to completion.
- Prepare project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
3. Technical Leadership
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables, including drawings, reports, and calculations.
- Conduct technical reviews and ensure high-quality engineering outputs.
4. Testing & Troubleshooting
- Oversee testing and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
- Analyze system failures and troubleshoot electrical issues on-site or remotely.
- Recommend modifications to improve efficiency and reliability.
5. Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with other disciplines (mechanical, civil, automation) in multidisciplinary projects.
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define requirements and provide updates.
- Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and presentations.
6. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to local, national, and international electrical codes and safety standards.
- Implement best practices for workplace safety and electrical system operation.
- Conduct safety audits and participate in HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) programs.
7. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends.
- Recommend and implement improvements in design processes and engineering methodologies.
- Contribute to R&D efforts, where applicable.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (mandatory).
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related specialty (preferred or required for certain roles).
Professional Certifications & Licenses
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (highly desirable or required, depending on the region).
- Relevant certifications (varies by industry), such as:
- IEEE membership
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) (if managing large projects)
- IEC/NEC code familiarity certificates
Experience
- Typically 5–10+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering.
Proven experience in:
- Designing and implementing electrical systems
- Leading projects or engineering teams
- Working with industry-specific tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, Revit MEP, MATLAB)
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, ETAP, SKM).
Strong knowledge of:
- Power distribution, control systems, and lighting design
- Electrical safety standards (NEC, IEC, IEEE)
- Energy efficiency and sustainability practices
- Understanding of PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation (for relevant sectors)
