Job Description

The Head of MEFPS (Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, and Sanitary) Construction in the Philippines holds a key leadership role in ensuring the successful execution of building services and systems within construction projects. Here's a detailed list of typical duties and responsibilities associated with this role:

1. Project Planning and Coordination

Oversee all MEFPS-related aspects of construction projects from planning to completion.
Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEFPS systems.
Develop MEFPS work schedules and ensure alignment with the overall project timeline.

2. Technical Oversight

Review and approve MEFPS designs, drawings, and technical specifications.
Ensure compliance with local and international codes (e.g., Philippine Electrical Code, National Building Code).
Resolve technical issues and recommend modifications for cost efficiency and effectiveness.

3. Team Management

Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
Assign tasks, provide training, and evaluate performance of MEFPS personnel.
Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

4. Quality Assurance and Control

Implement quality control measures to ensure all installations meet specified standards.
Conduct regular site inspections and audits.
Ensure proper testing and commissioning of MEFPS systems.

5. Budgeting and Cost Control

Serve as the main point of contact for MEFPS concerns.

Educational Background

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field.
A Professional License (PRC) as a Registered Engineer (Mechanical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, etc.) is required.

Work Experience

Minimum of 10–15 years of experience in MEFPS design and construction.
At least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role overseeing large-scale construction projects.
Strong background in high-rise buildings, commercial complexes, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills

Deep knowledge of:
Mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, elevators)
Electrical (power systems, lighting, grounding)
Fire Protection Systems (sprinklers, alarms)
Sanitary and Drainage Systems
Familiarity with Philippine codes and standards, including:
National Building Code of the Philippines (NBCP)
Philippine Electrical Code (PEC)
Fire Code of the Philippines (RA 9514)
DOLE and DPWH regulations
Proficiency in software such as:
AutoCAD, Revit MEP
MS Project, Primavera
Microsoft Office Suite
