Job Description
1. Project Planning and Execution
- Oversee the planning and execution of all construction projects from initiation to completion.
- Ensure project designs, schedules, and plans meet client requirements and regulatory standards.
- Develop master schedules and monitor timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
2. Leadership and Team Management
- Lead a team of project managers, engineers, and site supervisors.
- Assign project teams, delegate responsibilities, and monitor performance.
- Mentor junior staff and promote a safety-first, quality-driven work culture.
3. Budget and Cost Control
- Prepare and oversee project budgets, ensuring cost efficiency.
- Monitor financial performance and approve expenditures within scope.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
4. Contract and Stakeholder Management
- Manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Lead negotiations and ensure contractual obligations are met.
- Maintain strong communication with stakeholders, clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
5. Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Ensure that all projects comply with building codes, environmental laws, health and safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures on all sites.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and progress reviews.
6. Risk Management
- Identify project risks (e.g. site issues, delays, regulatory hurdles) and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage crisis situations and resolve issues that impact project delivery.
7. Resource and Equipment Management
- Allocate manpower, materials, and equipment efficiently across projects.
- Ensure procurement aligns with project needs and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with logistics and procurement for timely delivery of materials.
8. Reporting and Communication
- Provide regular updates to senior executives on project progress, risks, and outcomes.
- Prepare detailed reports including financial performance, timelines, and safety incidents.
- Facilitate coordination between departments (design, procurement, operations).
9. Technology and Innovation
- Promote the use of construction technologies such as BIM (Building Information Modeling), project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project), and drone monitoring.
- Implement innovative practices to improve productivity and reduce costs.
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field (essential).
- Master’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, or Business Administration (preferred but not always required).
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in construction project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale or complex construction projects (e.g. infrastructure, commercial, or residential).
- Experience in managing multiple stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of construction methods, engineering principles, contracts (e.g. FIDIC, NEC), and procurement.
- Proficiency in project management tools: MS Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM tools.
- Strong knowledge of local construction laws, building codes, HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) regulations.
