Job Description

JOB TITLE: Carpenter

REPORTS TO: Maintenance Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Performs the full range of carpentry techniques in repairing, constructing, altering as well as maintaining wood/wood substitute component of buildings structures.
• Plans and completes projects from initial layout to final assembly or installation.
• Selects lumber materials and additional supplies required to complete assigned work.
• Works from drawings, sketches, blue prints own knowledge of construction methods/techniques.
• Applies coverings like Formica as well as linoleum with proper adhesives to counter tabletops.
• Install door window sashes.
• Trims, mortise, drills and prepares items for attachment of hardware.
• Provides advise assistance to lower graded workers, as required.
• Constructs boxes, crate, doors as well as door frames, windows and window frames and also pallets.
• Repairs a variety of common metal office furniture as well as equipment, to include, but not limited to desks, tables, cabinets.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Builds, installs, and repairs walls and partitions, including drywall, wallpaper, millwork/molding, and faux finishing.
2. Installs and repairs finishes, such as laminates.
3. Performs rough-in framing for doors, frames, windows, and cabinetry.
4. Repairs, maintains, and constructs wood structures such as partitions, doors, furniture, and similar items throughout the property.
5. Performs miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls.
6. Order items, including filling out requisitions, obtaining manager approval, and using appropriate vendors.
7. Load, transport, and unload freight from elevator to designated area, using handtruck.
8. Follows all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; and complete safety training and certifications.
9. Ensures uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.
10. Speaks with others using clear and professional language.
11. Develops and maintains positive working relationships with others.
12. Welcomes and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation.
13. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move up and down a ladder.
14. Performs other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
15. Moves , lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
16. Installs, Maintain, and Repair Items.
17. Ensures that all flammable materials are stored in OSHA and EPA approved containment devices.
18. Perform miscellaneous minor repairs such as tightening loose toilet seats, changing light bulbs, and patching holes in walls.
19. Repair, maintain, and construct wood structures such as partitions, doors, furniture, and similar items throughout the property.
20. Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing any maintenance
21. Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.
22. Install and repair finishes, such as laminates.
23. Builds, install, and repair walls and partitions, including drywall, wallpaper, millwork/molding, and faux finishing.
24. Performs rough-in framing for doors, frames, windows, and cabinetry.
25. Orders items, including filling out requisitions, obtaining manager approval, and using appropriate vendors.
26. Load, transport, and unload freight from elevator to designated area, using handtruck.
27. Fills in for absent staff as needed.
28. Understands that business demands sometimes make it necessary to move employees from their accustomed shift to other shifts.
29. Works closely with other departments that are essential to ensuring a positive guest experience.
30. Assists other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships.
31. Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Management from time to time.

PREREQUISITES:
Knowledge of carpentry and use of carpentry tools and equipment.

EDUCATION:
High School graduate or equivalent. Basic knowledge of carpentry.

EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience working as Carpenter in hotel or resort for at least five (5) years.
