Job Description
The Senior Accountant Officer is responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role plays a critical part in preparing financial reports, analyzing data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and guiding junior accounting staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
· Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
· Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
· Maintain compliance with local, state, and government reporting requirements and tax filings.
· Ensure compliance with tax laws, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
· Assist in budget preparation, financial forecasting, and variance analysis.
· Review and approve journal entries, invoices, and expense reports.
· Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits.
· Monitor internal controls and recommend improvements to accounting procedures.
· Support management with financial decision-making by providing key insights and reports.
· Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring high performance and professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent preferred).
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
· Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES:
· Experience in financial audits and tax filings.
· Working knowledge of ERP systems.
· Familiarity with local tax regulations and corporate compliance procedures.
· Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
