Job Description
- Develop and review electrical designs, including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
- Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and protection coordination analyses.
- Specify electrical equipment, such as transformers, switchgear, cables, and protection devices.
- Design and analyze grounding and lightning protection systems.
- For Solar specific, design DC and AC collection systems, inverter sizing, and grid interconnection.
- Prepare technical specifications and bid documents for electrical equipment and services.
- Review and approve contractor submittals and shop drawings.
- Conduct site inspections and witness testing to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and operation phases.
- For Solar specific, oversee installation of PV modules, inverters, and associated equipment.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, codes, and standards related to power generation and solar energy.
- Troubleshoot electrical system issues and provide technical solutions.
- Develop and maintain electrical system documentation.
- Perform calculations for cable sizing, voltage drop, and other electrical parameters.
- Work closely with project managers, other engineers, and contractors.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations.
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical input.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct safety assessments and identify potential hazards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in power generation or solar energy.
- Strong understanding of power system analysis and design.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, AutoCAD Electrical).
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- For solar experience, knowledge of PVsyst, or similar solar design software is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
