Job Description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Document Cost Controller to join our Engineering Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and controlling costs associated with engineering projects and operations. The role requires collaboration with engineers, project managers, and the finance team to ensure projects are completed within budget, and that resources are allocated efficiently. The Cost Controller will play a crucial role in managing and reporting costs while supporting the engineering team with financial analysis to optimize project success.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Planning & Budgeting:
-Develop and maintain cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts for engineering projects.
-Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure budgets are aligned with project scope and timelines.
-Monitor and update cost forecasts and track project progress against financial plans.

Cost Control & Analysis:
-Track and report on project expenses and resource utilization throughout the project lifecycle.
-Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies between planned and actual costs, and recommend corrective actions.
-Provide cost data to support decision-making in engineering project meetings.

Reporting & Documentation:
-Prepare regular cost reports for internal stakeholders and senior management.
-Maintain accurate financial documentation and records for engineering projects, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards.
-Present cost analysis to the finance department and other stakeholders, highlighting potential cost-saving opportunities or risks.

Collaboration & Communication:
-Work closely with the engineering team to understand project requirements and identify potential cost-saving measures.
-Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding project budgets and cost-related matters.

Procurement Support:
-Assist in sourcing materials and equipment, negotiating prices, and evaluating vendor quotes in alignment with project budgets.
-Monitor procurement processes and ensure that costs remain within budgetary constraints.

Process Improvement:
-Suggest and implement process improvements related to cost control, reporting, and budget management.
-Ensure best practices are followed for cost management and reporting.

Qualifications:
Education:
-Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field. (A Master’s degree or professional certifications in cost control, project management, or accounting is a plus.)
Experience:
-Proven experience as a Document Cost Controller or similar role, preferably in the engineering, construction, or manufacturing industries. (preffered but not required)
-Experience in cost control, budgeting, and financial analysis in an engineering project environment.

Skills:
-Strong understanding of cost control methods, budgeting, and financial reporting in engineering projects.
-Proficient in using cost management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Procore) and Microsoft Excel (advanced).
-Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
-Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
