Job Description
The Senior Auto Mechanic is responsible for conducting thorough inspections, diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues, and performing advanced repair and maintenance on a wide variety of vehicles. This role requires expertise in troubleshooting, repairing engines, transmissions, and electrical systems while ensuring high levels of efficiency, precision, and safety. The Senior Mechanic will also mentor junior mechanics and provide leadership in maintaining vehicle functionality and longevity.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections prior to starting repair or maintenance tasks.
Perform vehicle tests both before and after servicing to confirm that issues have been fully resolved.
Report findings and request necessary job orders before commencing repairs.
Efficiently diagnose vehicle problems and execute repairs with a high degree of precision.
Repair or replace worn parts proactively to avoid vehicle breakdowns or further damage.
Adhere to a detailed checklist to ensure all critical components are examined.
Inspect and repair vital parts including hoses, belts, plugs, fuel systems, brakes, and other mechanical elements.
Utilize specialized tools such as grinding machines and lathes to rebuild brake systems.
Perform electrical work on automotive components including servicing, installing batteries, repairing lighting, generators, and starters.
Road test vehicles to identify and resolve operational defects.
Overhaul and repair engines and transmissions for both gas and diesel vehicles.
Balance wheels and ensure proper tire alignment.
Accurately inspect vehicle engines, mechanical, and electrical components to diagnose and repair issues.
Conduct routine maintenance work such as fluid replacements and lubricating parts to ensure optimal vehicle functionality.
Schedule future maintenance and advise customers on best vehicle care practices.
Provide detailed cost, time, and effort estimates for repair or maintenance jobs.
Maintain accurate logs of work completed and any issues encountered.
Keep all equipment and tools in proper working condition.
Troubleshoot and resolve reported issues promptly and effectively.
Train and mentor junior mechanics, providing guidance on complex repair tasks.
Assemble machines or mechanical components as required.
Ensure repairs aim for maximum reliability and durability.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Senior Auto Mechanic or similar role.
Expertise in diagnosing complex vehicle issues (both mechanical and electrical).
Proficiency with specialized tools such as lathes, grinding machines, and diagnostic equipment.
Strong understanding of vehicle systems (engines, transmissions, electrical components).
Ability to mentor and train junior mechanics.
Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
With Experience in European Cars
