Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on company vehicles, including vans and delivery trucks.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and engine issues using diagnostic equipment and provide effective solutions.
- Conduct regular servicing, such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake adjustments, and battery replacements.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards and are roadworthy by performing pre-trip inspections and necessary adjustments.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Coordinate with the fleet management team to schedule routine servicing and respond to urgent repair requests.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in automotive repair to improve service efficiency.
- Adhere to company safety protocols and government regulations regarding vehicle maintenance.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certification in automotive repair is preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience as an automotive mechanic, preferably with experience in commercial or fleet vehicle maintenance.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and repair vehicle issues.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle mechanics, including engines, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
- Familiarity with safety and regulatory standards related to fleet vehicles.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and technical issues efficiently.
- Documentation: Basic record-keeping skills to log maintenance, repairs, and parts usage.
Preferred Qualities:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to identifying maintenance needs.
- Physically fit to handle the demands of vehicle maintenance, including lifting heavy parts and tools.
