Job Description

As a waiter or food server, your role is essential in ensuring that diners have a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Your duties and responsibilities typically include:

1. **Greeting and Seating Guests**: Welcome guests warmly as they arrive, guide them to their seats, and provide menus.

2. **Taking Orders**: Accurately take food and drink orders from guests, making sure to note any special requests or dietary restrictions.

3. **Providing Recommendations**: Offer suggestions from the menu, including specials, and answer any questions about ingredients or preparation methods.

4. **Serving Food and Drinks**: Deliver food and beverages to the table in a timely and organized manner, ensuring everything is presented properly.

5. **Checking on Guests**: Regularly check on guests to ensure they are satisfied with their meals, refill drinks, and address any additional needs or concerns.

6. **Handling Payments**: Process payments accurately, including cash and card transactions, and handle the billing process efficiently.

7. **Maintaining Cleanliness**: Keep the dining area clean and organized, including clearing used dishes and utensils, and setting tables for new guests.

8. **Coordinating with Kitchen Staff**: Communicate effectively with the kitchen to ensure orders are prepared correctly and promptly.

9. **Adhering to Health and Safety Standards**: Follow hygiene and safety protocols, including proper food handling and sanitation practices.

10. **Upselling and Cross-Selling**: Suggest additional items or upgrades to enhance the dining experience and increase sales.

11. **Handling Complaints**: Address any issues or complaints from guests professionally and seek to resolve them promptly.

12. **Team Collaboration**: Work closely with other staff members, including bussers and kitchen staff, to ensure smooth service.

13. **Maintaining Knowledge of Menu and Specials**: Stay informed about menu items, ingredients, and any changes or specials to provide accurate information to guests.

14. **Assisting with Special Requests**: Accommodate special requests or modifications to dishes as needed.
