Purchasing Assistant Remote

Position: Purchasing Assistant
Number of hours: 40 hours/week
Job duration: 1 month minimum
Schedule: 7:00AM-3:30PM, EST

Tasks required:

Perform vendor research and selection to enhance profitability, reducing operating costs and boosting efficiency
Maintain cordial working relationships with vendors and supervising vendor activities
Sign and review purchasing agreements with vendors, monitoring their performance and renegotiating contracts
Use quarterly and annual data to determine purchasing needs and performing inventory management
Manage purchase orders, overseeing shipping schedules and maintaining purchase records
Work with warehouse staff to compare deliveries with purchase orders to identify discrepancies
Conduct ongoing market research to identify beneficial purchase agreements and potential vendors
Other ad hoc tasks that would be assigned

Requirements:

Proven work experience as a purchasing assistant or relevant role is required
In-depth knowledge of purchasing functions, inventory and supply management systems
Working knowledge of Precoro is required
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
Direct experience with spreadsheet computer applications
Experience in the woodworking/manufacturing/construction industry is a huge advantage
Ability to use purchasing software
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written
Self-disciplined and organized; able to consistently perform with limited supervision
