Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining water and wastewater treatment systems to ensure safe and compliant operations. This role requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and adherence to environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and control treatment processes. This often involves using control panels and manual handling of chemicals
2. Safely handle, prepare, and dose chemicals such as coagulants, flocculants, and chlorine. This includes operating chemical feed pumps, ensuring accurate chemical levels, and adjusting dosages based on test results to optimize treatment processes like coagulation and disinfection.
4. Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs on plant equipment such as pumps, motors, blowers, valves, and filters to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
5. Identify and resolve operational issues, equipment malfunctions, and process inefficiencies promptly to minimize downtime.
6. Perform daily cleaning and general housekeeping of the facility, including the treatment tanks, walkways, control rooms, and equipment, to maintain a safe and sanitary working environment.
7. Respond promptly to alarms, spills, or other emergencies to mitigate potential risks to public health and the environment.
8. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including the proper handling of chemicals and hazardous materials. Ensure the plant is in compliance with all environmental laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; a degree or certification in water/wastewater treatment is an advantage.
Valid license or certification in water and/or wastewater treatment operations (if required in your region).
Experience in water and wastewater treatment operations is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong understanding of treatment processes, equipment, and safety protocols.
Ability to interpret technical documents, operational manuals, and safety guidelines.
Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, work in various environmental conditions, and lifting.
