Job Description
1. Operational Oversight
Supervise daily operations of the RX lab focused on optical products, ensuring
efficiency and adherence to production schedules.
Coordinate workflows to optimize the manufacturing of optical lenses and other
related products.
2. Quality Assurance
Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure compliance with
industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Address and resolve any quality issues related to optical products promptly.
3. Staff Management
Supervise, train, and evaluate laboratory staff, ensuring they are skilled in optical
manufacturing processes and safety protocols.
Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
4. Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations governing
optical manufacturing (e.g., FDA, ISO).
Prepare for and facilitate regulatory inspections and audits.
5. Research and Development Support
Collaborate with R&D teams to support the development of new optical products
and technologies.
Facilitate the transition of innovative products from development to production.
6. Equipment and Facility Management
Oversee maintenance, calibration, and upgrades of laboratory equipment and
facilities used in optical manufacturing.
Ensure that the lab is equipped with the latest technology and tools necessary for
production.
7. Supply Chain Management
Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely procurement of raw
materials and optical components.
Oversee inventory control to prevent shortages and optimize stock levels.
8. Reporting and Documentation
Prepare and present reports on lab performance, quality metrics, and operational
improvements to senior management.
Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and operational purposes.
9. Ad Hoc Duties Assigned by Top Management
Undertake special projects or initiatives as directed by senior executives,
including strategic planning and operational audits.
Address urgent issues or challenges that require immediate attention and
resolution.
Job Requirements:
Educational Qualifications
Bachelor Degree: In a relevant field such as Optical Engineering,
Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
Master Degree: Preferred, especially in Business Administration (MBA) or a
related field.
Experience
Industry Experience: At least 5 years of experience in the optical industry with a
focus on RX lab operations specifically within large-scale size company (manage
2,000 – 3,000 pairs of lens).
Supervisory Experience: Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader
role, in a lab or manufacturing setting is a MUST.
Skills and Competencies
Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management abilities to motivate
and guide staff.
Quality Control: In-depth knowledge of quality assurance processes and
regulatory compliance in the optical or pharmaceutical industry.
Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with optical manufacturing processes and
laboratory equipment.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to
address operational challenges.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for
effective collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives
simultaneously.
Certifications
Regulatory Certifications: Knowledge of ISO standards, FDA regulations, and
other relevant certifications may be preferred or required.
Quality Management: Certifications in quality management systems (e.g., Six
Sigma, Lean Manufacturing) can be an advantage.
