Job Description
2. Reviews and analyzes existing systems for which to evaluate current effectiveness and to detect and recommend changes in input, output or data handling methods to better respond to ever-changing company conditions and requirements.
3. Maintains close liaison with management personnel of functional areas to ensure early awareness and respond to their needs, to make recommendations for data processing and applications or techniques which may facilitate solutions to their problems to improve operations.
4. Coordinates through oral or written communications with branch chiefs and end-users to accomplish work requiring joint participation.
5. Provides status of current projects to levels of management on an as-required basis, via information or formal briefing, as directed.
6. Writes and maintains user instructions for assigned programs.
7. Design and develop file maintenance systems by programming internal machine controls and check points to facilitate tracing error conditions through established audit trails.
8. Ensures that the quality of programming efforts prevents costly and embarrassing delays through invalid or incomplete source data being entered into the system, or by faulty programming or improper estimating of planning, development and processing time.
9. Reviews system and application documentation, specific flow charts, block diagrams, processing codes, test results or any other phase of the system development cycle effort considered necessary to ensure the quality of the final programs.
10. Maintains and coordinates the development of the programs by users to ensures that they are properly related and integrated for a smooth and total appreciation of the system.
11. On typical programming projects, participates in all phase of the project, addressing computer hardware and software requirements with users to define their needs and analyze feasibility of the same.
12. On development projects, determines how the system should be organized, what equipment demands will result, the number and kinds of records, files and documents necessary, and the procedure to obtain and organize the required information.
13. Writes complex programs through knowledge of the company operations and function requirements.
14. Chooses and accomplishes the most efficient programming approach using the appropriate computer programming language, operating system, database format/type, and other utility systems or adaptations.
15. Codes, test and debug the application being developed.
16. Analyze programs using available computer programming language to accomplish local management objectives and to provides timely and accurate selected data in usable formats to satisfy local requirements.
17. Provides advice, assistance, training and services to the users regarding their IT problems/errors by identifying the problem and taking corrective action.
18. Conducts routine inspection of computer hardware and peripherals. Conducts minor troubleshooting and repair, if necessary.
19. Assists in coordinating with technicians in the preparations of the installation site and or other hardware environmental requirements.
20. Installs logical program applications, takes charge of database set-up, implementation and testing of program modules and coordinates with users on the proper functioning and operation of the same.
21. Extends support to other members of the group.
