Job Description
This role involves developing detailed designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards, estimating costs, managing budgets, and overseeing the project bidding. The role involves detailed cost estimation, project budget, design planning, and ensuring compliance with projects. S/he will collaborate with Sales team in securing projects. S/he will also work hand in hand with the procurement department in getting vendors/subcontractors. S/he will also collaborate with project management team, design team and other engineering team to manage project budget, evaluate BOQ, and variation/change orders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design and Drafting:
Develop detailed designs and drawings for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Ensure designs meet project specifications and regulatory requirements.
Technical Analysis:
Conduct technical analysis to ensure designs are efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with standards.
Cost Estimation:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems, including materials, labor, and equipment.
Prepare Bills of Quantity (BOQ) and BOM based on tender drawings, ensuring all aspects of work are included
Site Inspections:
Conduct site visits to assess MPF requirements and ensure installations comply with safety standards.
Contract Management:
Review and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with project specifications and company policies.
Monitor contractual obligations and resolve any disputes or changes in scope.
Project Budget Monitoring:
Track project progress, ensuring adherence to performance, budgets and schedules related to MPF.
Work closely with project management teams and design teams to ensure that the project is within the budget based on the approved BOQ and BOM.
Value Engineering:
Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize project costs while maintaining quality and performance.
Documentation:
Ensure design documentation, including drawings and calculations, are properly maintained and filed.
Maintain detailed records of design changes, testing results, and quality assessments to ensure transparency and traceability.
Compliance:
Ensure all work for MPF complies with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client’s policies/procedures.
Verify designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations. (e.g. ISO, ASME, AGARAE, SMACNA, NFPA, IPC etc)


Reporting:
Prepare and submit regular project reports to management and key stakeholders.
Provide insights and recommendations based on cost analysis and project budget performance.
Evaluate suppliers and contractors.
Risk Management:
Identify potential project implementation and budget risks and do mitigation strategies to prevent cost overruns and avoid technical problems.
Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve design/installation issues and challenges.
Investigate design failures/defects in installation, perform root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate future issues.
Client Communication:
Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and other teams to ensure project requirements are met.
Present design concepts and updates to clients and sales teams.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with design, engineering, and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution.
Coordination with procurement for materials and services, ensuring cost efficiency and quality standards.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to improve design processes and outcomes.
Educational background / Qualifications: Must be a graduate of Mechanical Engineer

Work Experience required: At least 2-5 years experience in Office Fit Out, Joineries, Commercial and Residential industry.

Technical / Function Skills:

Knowledge in MEPFS costing
Ability to recognize contractual obligations of both company and its subcontractors.
Good Experience in AUTO CAD/MS Office and CCS (Candy) would be preferred but not essential.
Able to review and measure the executed works.
Good knowledge in detailed shop drawing, coordination drawings.
Able to act on own initiative and proactive way.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
