Job Description
• Ensure the availability of fire-fighting equipment is properly installed from shore to ship such as fire hoses, fire extinguishers, etc.
• Conducts safety and fire drills periodically to familiarize employees and the fire fighting team with fire fighting activities; however scheduling shall be done in such manner that will not interfere with the production schedule.
• Implements on-site environment, health and safety protocols and procedures, in accordance with general safety company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Conducts regular routine inspections of all buildings, facilities and equipment for compliance with general and specific safety standards; reports non-compliance and/or hazardous conditions and recommends remedial action as appropriate.
• Facilitates prevention of pollution within the area of the shipyard and seeing to it that spill booms are in position and that crew vessel berthed at wharf are properly informed of rules against pollution.
• Conducts on-site investigations of accidents and incidents involving fire, hazardous materials, unsafe situations, and/or non-compliance issues, prepares reports and makes recommendations for procedural changes as necessary.
• Conducts Gas Free Inspection and issue Gas Free certificates.
• Conduct safety inspection on board vessel and issuance of hot/cold work permit.
• Participates under direction in responding in emergency situations involving hazardous materials, fire and smoke incidents; assists in the preparation of reports of findings and recommendations.
• In a specified field of expertise, conducts a variety of environmental health and safety training.
