Job Description
Job Title: Electro-Mechanical Technician / Electro-Mechanic
Overview: An Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical systems within various machinery and equipment. This role requires a combination of knowledge in electrical circuits, motors, mechanical systems, and electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation & Setup:
Install and configure electro-mechanical equipment such as motors, conveyors, pumps, and control systems.
Perform testing and calibration of electrical and mechanical systems to ensure proper operation.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Conduct routine maintenance on electrical systems (e.g., wiring, control panels, sensors) and mechanical systems (e.g., gearboxes, bearings, belts).
Diagnose and repair faults in equipment and systems, identifying root causes of mechanical or electrical failures.
Repairs:
Repair or replace damaged components in both electrical and mechanical systems (e.g., wiring, switches, motors, gears).
Collaborate with engineers to plan repairs and improvements to increase machine efficiency and reliability.
System Upgrades & Modifications:
Suggest and implement upgrades or modifications to improve system performance and minimize downtime.
Update or replace outdated electrical and mechanical components as necessary.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and standards.
Perform safety checks and make necessary adjustments to prevent hazards.
Documentation & Reporting:
Keep detailed records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections.
Maintain documentation of electrical and mechanical schematics, manuals, and work performed.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and production teams to solve complex issues.
Communicate effectively with management about equipment status, maintenance schedules, and any potential concerns.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education: Typically requires a degree or diploma in Electro-Mechanical Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical systems, mechanical machinery, wiring diagrams, motors, sensors, PLCs, and control systems.
Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical and electrical faults.
Mechanical Skills: Experience with mechanical tools, equipment, and assembly techniques.
Electrical Knowledge: Ability to read electrical blueprints, work with circuit boards, and troubleshoot wiring issues.
Certifications: Certifications in areas such as electrical safety or mechanical repair are often preferred.
Experience: Previous experience in an electro-mechanical role or similar industry is advantageous.
