Job Description

This job posting seeks a Payroll Specialist to manage all aspects of bi-weekly/monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Canadian payroll legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

Payroll Processing: Calculating wages, deductions, and taxable benefits; ensuring timely and accurate payments via direct deposit.
Compliance: Staying updated on and ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial payroll regulations.
Government Reporting: Preparing and remitting payroll tax filings (T4s, PD7As, ROEs) and responding to inquiries from the CRA and other agencies.
Benefits Administration: Managing employee benefit programs, including enrollments and terminations.
Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintaining accurate payroll records, preparing payroll reports for management, and reconciling accounts.
Employee Support: Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits, and assisting with onboarding.
System Management: Maintaining and updating employee information in the payroll system, troubleshooting issues, and assisting with upgrades.
Client Management: Handling payroll for 250-300 employees across 20 clients.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, BS in Accounting Technology or Management Accounting (required)
Minimum 2 years of payroll experience.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian Dayforce, Push, EmployerD).
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Knowledge of accounting principles.
Willingness to work onsite.
Willingness to work a night shift schedule.
