Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join our property management team. This role is responsible for overseeing the financial health and integrity of our property operations, including managing accounting functions, bookkeeping, budget tracking, and auditing property financials. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance or accounting and experience in property management, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and proactive financial insights for property owners.

Key Responsibilities·

Accounting & Bookkeeping

Maintain and oversee accurate accounting records for all properties under management.
Ensure timely processing of accounts payable and receivable, including rent collection, vendor payments, and payroll for property staff.
Prepare and reconcile bank statements and general ledger entries.
Financial Reporting

Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Report regularly to property owners, providing a clear, concise summary of each property's financial standing on a monthly basis.
Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making for property management and development.
Budgeting & Forecasting

Develop, monitor, and manage property budgets, ensuring adherence to financial goals and objectives.
Track actual expenditures against budgeted amounts and recommend adjustments as necessary to maintain financial health.
Work closely with property management and owners to forecast future financial needs and optimize cash flow.
Auditing & Compliance

Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and legal regulations.
Assist in coordinating external audits and ensure all financial records are ready for inspection.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of property management financial regulations and apply best practices to all financial operations.
Monitor spending of the Property management group to be in line with approved budgets and disbursements
Tax & Regulatory Filings and Permits

Prepare and submit property-related tax filings and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.
Work with external tax advisors as needed to optimize tax positions for each property.
Work on securing needed permits/compliance documents when it comes to financial operations of the company.
Financial Planning & Strategy

Analyze market trends and property performance metrics to provide insights for financial growth.
Recommend improvements and cost-saving measures to maximize profitability for each property.
Collaborate with senior management and property owners on investment strategies, financing options, and risk management.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. CPA or relevant certification is a plus.

Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a financial or accounting role, with experience in property management highly preferred.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, property management finance, and auditing practices.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Yardi, MRI, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings effectively.
