Job Description
Data Analysis: Analyze inventory data to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies. This includes assessing stock levels, sales trends, order histories, and product performance.
Forecasting: Use historical data and demand forecasting models to predict future inventory needs. This helps to ensure that stock levels are appropriate for upcoming sales periods, promotions, or seasonal shifts.
Inventory Performance Metrics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) like stock turnover, fill rate, and order accuracy. Reporting on these metrics helps identify areas of improvement.
Inventory Reconciliation: Conduct regular reconciliations between physical inventory and recorded inventory in the system. This helps to identify and resolve discrepancies and ensures accurate stock records.
Supply Chain Coordination: Work closely with other departments such as procurement, warehouse management, and sales to ensure smooth coordination and that inventory levels meet demand without overstocking.
Reporting: Provide regular reports to management on inventory levels, trends, and any issues or potential disruptions. This helps inform decision-making and strategy.
Risk Management: Assess and help mitigate risks such as stock outs, excess inventory, or supply chain disruptions by continuously monitoring inventory and adjusting strategies. Inventory Analysts typically rely heavily on data analysis tools, inventory management systems, and software like Excel, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), or specialized inventory management software.
