Technical Estimator

Calculates costs for products or services, and provides estimates to clients. They also work with suppliers and contractors to ensure accurate costs.
Responsibilities
Gather information: Collect information about proposals and specifications
Analyze data: Monitor budgets and pricing to create cost databases
Evaluate costs: Consider materials, labor, and time to provide a project estimate
Prepare estimates: Create and present cost plans to clients
Update estimates: Keep estimates current as the project progresses
Work with suppliers: Maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to get accurate costs
Liaise with teams: Work with project managers, sales, and finance teams to understand project requirements
Provide recommendations: Suggest ways to reduce costs while maintaining project standards
Track variations: Monitor changes to plans and estimate their impact on costs
Provide reports: Provide regular reports on estimated versus actual costs
Skills Strong analytical abilities, Knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and word processing programs, Understanding of construction documents, Ability to read and interpret blueprints, and Knowledge of CAD software.
