Job Description
The Senior Structural Design Engineer's main responsibility is to develop innovative and cost-effective structural designs for various construction projects. This involves using advanced software for meticulous structural analysis to ensure designs meet safety, performance, and durability standards. Prepare mathematical models, conduct analyses, and create detailed engineering plans. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, effective technical communication, and team supervision are essential. Assist in project management, including scheduling, site coordination, and client communication, while seeking process improvements and staying updated with industry trends. Overall, they integrate structural designs into project plans, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to organizational success.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Develop innovative and cost-effective structural designs for buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, and other infrastructure projects.
Utilize advanced software tools such as ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD Pro, Adapt PT, Enercalc, Section Builders, SeismoBuild and Seismo Stout, Revit, and AutoCAD. to conduct meticulous structural analysis, ensuring designs surpass safety, performance, and durability requirements.
Responsible for the preparation of mathematical models, lateral and structural analyses, computation, and basic detailed engineering designs and plans.
Calculating the pressures stresses and strains that each component, such as a beam or lintel, will experience from other parts of the structure due to human use or environmental pressures such as weather or earthquakes.
Analyzing configurations of the basic structural components of a building or other structure. Considering the strength of various materials, e.g. timber, concrete, steel and brick, to see how their inclusion may necessitate a change of structural design.
Investigating ground conditions and analyzing results of site tests, such as soil samples.
Interpret and apply relevant building codes, standards, and regulations such ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, and EU codes to ensure designs meet legal and safety requirements.
Collaborating closely with the estimation team to create detailed specifications and precise cost estimates, contributing to project development and conceptual discussions.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
Effectively communicate technical concepts and design recommendations to internal stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies, fostering transparency and understanding throughout project process.
Supervise team in preparing plans and specifications. Performs reviews of structural plans and details and details for working drawings.
Assist in preparation of project schedule, and coordinates during the design development stage.
Reviews and evaluates additional details, coordinates any revisions required and recommend necessary modifications, when confirmed by analysis.
Addressing any deviations or discrepancies promptly and implementing corrective measures as necessary to ensure project success.
Attends regular site coordination meetings, conduct site inspection and coordinates with project management team to ensure correct implementation of plans and specifications.
Develop and prepare comprehensive project reports, specifications, and drawings for client evaluation and endorsement, along with drafting specifications and/or operational guidelines.
Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, and other engineering disciplines to integrate structural designs seamlessly into overall project plans.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Stay updated evolving industry trends, advancements, and best practices, integrating relevant insights into design methodologies to ensure projects remain at the forefront of innovation.
Flexibly undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to organizational success.
EDUCATION, TECHNICAL CAPABILITY AND CAREER:
Licensed Civil Engineer demonstrating proficiency and adherence to professional standards and ethics.
Experience in handling structural engineering projects such as buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, and other infrastructure projects
Minimum of 5 - 10 years of hands-on experience as a Structural Design Engineer.
Demonstrate proficiency and comprehensive understanding of all relevant engineering codes and standards such as such as ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC, and EU codes, ensuring strict adherence to industry regulations.
Demonstrates proficiency in utilizing industry-standard software tools such as, ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE, STAAD Pro, Adapt PT, Enercalc, Section Builders, SeismoBuild and Seismo Stout, Revit, and AutoCAD.
Possesses expertise in retrofitting of existing structures, enhancing their resilience and safety against seismic activity, environmental factors, or structural deficiencies.
Demonstrates the ability to assess existing structures, identify weaknesses, and develop effective retrofit solutions, optimizing structural performance and longevity.
Proficient in designing structures of different materials, including concrete and steel, employing innovative methodologies to achieve structural integrity and efficiency.
Ensures compliance with relevant regulations throughout the design process, prioritizing safety, durability, and sustainability.
Prioritize safety in all design activities, ensuring that projects meet applicable safety regulations and standards.
Capable of adapting design approaches to suit project requirements, optimizing solutions for cost-effectiveness, constructability, and performance.
Capability to work independently with minimal supervision, while effectively contributing to a diverse array of design projects.
Capable of independently supervising teams handling structural design projects from conception to completion, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.
