Backhoe Operators

• Performs daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment to ensure that equipment is in good running condition;
• Conducts pre-operational checks on equipment and cleans, lubricates, and refills equipment as necessary;
• Works with ground personnel in the excavation and installation process of laying pipes on line and grade;
• Ensures trenches are excavated to the proper depth/grade;
• Follows directions of the ground crew regarding craning, gravel placement, and grading;
• Operates excavator/backhoe on public roadways while maintaining proper awareness of one's surroundings;
• Must be aware of proper rigging of pipes, manhole barrels, and others and ensures safe work procedures are followed during the lowering of materials into the excavation;
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the excavator/backhoe;
• Ensures a solid understanding of and complies with the rules and regulations of the company.
