Job Description

Ensures availability of stocks and goods
Negotiates, maintains and purchases the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct inventory level
Researches, reviews, and evaluates suppliers and purchase their goods based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities
Monitors deliveries to ensure that goods come in on time and follow up undelivered goods
Evaluates and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with agreements
Reviews catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals and internet sites, and consult with other department personnel to locate necessary goods and services
Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants to learn about the products, services and prices to keep up with price trends and future markets
Formulates policies and procedures of procurement up to the deliveries of goods and services
Draft bid specifications and requests bid proposals from vendors.
Administer contract for major purchases.
Identify high-margin opportunities for additional product offerings through market research and networking with customers, vendors, and the academic community.
Source products and raw materials at quality and cost standards consistent with company business objectives.
Procured all materials necessary to support the schedule on a timely basis, negotiating favorable contracts with key suppliers.
Drove cost reduction activities and maintained purchasing documentation.
Ensured stock inventory levels were maintained to adequately meet operation needs.
Participated in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
