Job Description
Position: Senior Consultant Power BI | Remote
Schedule: Midshift (5 p.m. to 2 a.m.)
Overview:
Power BIs effectiveness hinges on access to high-quality data. We are looking for Lead Consultants with expertise in Power BI, emphasizing data management. Ideal candidates will have advanced skills in Power BI and its data tools, including PowerQuery/M, DAX, and dimensional modeling, as well as experience in basic report development. Familiarity with SQL Server components such as data warehouse design, SSIS, SSRS, and DirectQuery is a plus. You should also understand Power BI licensing options and be able to advise clients on selecting the most appropriate licensing models for their business needs. Experience working with Databricks to develop, implement, and optimize data pipelines and workflows is required. Excellent communication skills are essential for collaborating with clients, their teams, and other technical professionals like database developers and engineers. Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a solid grasp of both technical and business intelligence aspects, along with a commitment to keeping up-to-date with Power BI developments, will make you a valuable candidate. Responsibilities:
Conduct discovery sessions to understand client reporting requirements
Collaborate with clients on Power BI licensing options, understanding the pros and cons of each platform
Design efficient star schema data models for Power BI, including calculated columns and measures
Build Power BI solutions by integrating data from multiple sources, developing reports and dashboards, and creating data elements using DAX and source queries
Assist clients in deploying Power BI solutions to the Power BI service, including setting up gateways, DirectQuery connections, DataFlows, and managing data refreshes
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related fields; or equivalent work experience
Over 4 years of experience working with data and BI solutions within the Microsoft ecosystem (SSRS, Power BI, PowerPivot, PerformancePoint) or other BI tools (Business Objects, MicroStrategy, Qlik, SAP)
Proficiency in T-SQL, data modeling, and report creation using Power BI or similar platforms
Experience developing comprehensive Power BI reports with linked content, drill-downs, and nested parameters
Strong DAX skills for creating dynamic measures
Knowledge of data mashups and transformations using Power Query/M language
Practical experience with Databricks in building, implementing, and optimizing data pipelines
Ability to communicate visual design choices and interactions effectively
Skilled in designing user interfaces that are intuitive and require minimal training
Able to gather requirements and facilitate focus groups to identify business process improvements
Professional Skills:

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences
