Job Description
1. Blueprinting Phase
The SME plays a lead role in defining the To-Be processes, aligning SAP capabilities with business requirements.
Scope:
-Lead requirements gathering workshops with business users.
-Document AS-IS and TO-BE processes using SAP best practices.
-Perform fit-gap analysis to identify system configuration needs or enhancements.
-Define functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEF).
-Collaborate with technical teams and consultants to finalize design documents.
2. Testing Phase
This involves validating that the configured system meets the business and technical requirements.
Scope:
-Design and review test scenarios, scripts, and data for unit, integration, and UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
-Participate in and support test execution (Unit Testing, System Integration Testing, UAT).
-Log, triage, and help resolve defects and inconsistencies.
-Validate custom developments and integrations (e.g., with legacy or third-party apps).
3. User Acceptance Phase
The SME helps ensure that business users are confident in the system prior to go-live.
Scope:
-Conduct UAT walkthroughs and business validation sessions.
-Train super users and key stakeholders on new processes and features.
-Act as liaison between business and technical teams for clarifications and issue resolution.
-Sign off or support sign-off on UAT completion and go/no-go decisions.
4. Data Migration Phase
SMEs ensure that clean and accurate data transitions from legacy systems to S/4HANA.
Scope:
-Define data migration objects and templates (e.g., customers, vendors, materials, GL balances).
-Review data cleansing rules and help identify data quality issues.
-Map legacy data to S/4HANA data models, including validations and transformation rules.
-Coordinate and validate mock migrations, data loads, and cutover activities.
-Support reconciliation and sign-off for migrated data accuracy.
Qualifications:
1. Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field.
SAP certification in relevant S/4HANA modules (e.g., FI, MM, SD, PP, EWM) is strongly preferred.
2. SAP Experience
3-5+ years of hands-on experience in SAP (ECC and/or S/4HANA), with at least 1–2 full-cycle S/4HANA implementations.
Strong working knowledge of Fiori apps, SAP Best Practices, and S/4HANA architecture.
3. Project Lifecycle Expertise
Experience and competence in these areas:
Blueprinting: Requirements gathering, fit-gap analysis, process documentation
Testing: Scenario creation, defect management, UAT coordination
Acceptance: Change management, stakeholder engagement, training
Data Migration: Legacy data mapping, cleansing, mock loads, reconciliation
4. Technical & Functional Skills
Familiarity with LSMW, BAPIs, or data migration tools (e.g., SAP Data Services, LTMC).
Understanding of integration points across modules and with non-SAP systems.
Ability to write and review functional specifications and test cases.
5. Soft Skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to lead workshops and training sessions
Strong analytical and documentation skills
Team leadership or cross-functional collaboration capability
