Job Description
The Company Nurse is responsible for providing basic healthcare services to employees, maintaining health and safety protocols, and promoting overall wellness within the organization. This includes administering first aid, managing employee health records, coordinating medical care, and ensuring that the company complies with relevant health regulations, such as Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and other workplace safety guidelines.
The Company Nurse plays a vital role in ensuring a healthy and safe working environment, providing health education, and supporting employees in their physical and mental well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Employee Health & Wellness
Provide basic healthcare: Administer first aid or emergency care to employees who are injured or ill while at work.
Monitor employee health: Regularly check the health of employees and ensure they receive timely medical attention when necessary.
Maintain health records: Keep detailed and confidential records of employees' health histories, treatment, and medical assessments.
Health screenings: Conduct periodic health checks (e.g., blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar tests) as needed.
Support medical referrals: Coordinate with hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare professionals when an employee needs further medical treatment or consultation.
2. Emergency Response
Respond to workplace accidents: Provide immediate medical attention for accidents or illnesses that occur at the workplace and report incidents as required.
Emergency preparedness: Ensure the availability of first aid kits, emergency supplies, and equipment for use in case of medical emergencies.
Coordinate with external medical facilities: Maintain a relationship with nearby clinics, hospitals, or emergency response teams for employee referrals when needed.
3. Health & Safety Compliance
Monitor workplace conditions: Ensure that the workplace meets health and safety standards, including ensuring proper ventilation, sanitation, and ergonomic working conditions.
Follow occupational health standards: Ensure the company complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) and other relevant regulations.
Report workplace hazards: Identify and report any workplace health hazards, such as unsafe equipment, exposure to chemicals, or unsanitary conditions.
Conduct health and safety training: Conduct or assist in the facilitation of safety drills, CPR, first aid, and wellness programs to educate employees on health-related topics.
4. Employee Education & Counseling
Promote employee wellness: Educate employees about wellness programs, healthy lifestyle choices, nutrition, exercise, and mental health.
Provide guidance on health concerns: Offer counseling on stress management, mental health awareness, and general well-being.
Health-related seminars: Organize or coordinate wellness activities, health seminars, or other educational programs to improve employees’ knowledge and awareness of health matters.
Support work-life balance: Provide advice and support on managing work-related health issues such as burnout, fatigue, and stress.
5. Administration & Documentation
Record keeping: Maintain and secure employee health records, including medical leaves, vaccinations, accidents, treatments, and fitness certificates.
Manage medication inventory: Ensure that necessary medications, medical supplies, and first-aid kits are stocked and available at all times.
Provide reports: Submit regular health reports to the management regarding employee health trends, sickness reports, or incidents.
Manage medical leave: Process and document medical certificates, sick leaves, and absences related to health concerns.
6. Liaison with Government Agencies
BIR and PhilHealth coordination: Assist with the filing and processing of necessary government documents, such as PhilHealth, SSS, and Pag-IBIG contributions for employees, ensuring compliance with government health and safety regulations.
Workplace inspections: Coordinate with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and other relevant agencies during health and safety audits or inspections.
7. Mental Health Support
Provide mental health resources: Promote mental health awareness and ensure employees have access to counseling or employee assistance programs (EAP) as needed.
Address stress-related issues: Offer assistance or referrals to employees dealing with workplace stress, anxiety, or other mental health concerns.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Philippines.
Licensure/Certifications:
Valid PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) license as a Registered Nurse.
Experience:
At least 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting.
Experience in first aid, emergency response, and health and safety compliance is an advantage.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of basic healthcare practices, first aid, and occupational health and safety regulations.
Proficiency in maintaining health records and using Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide counseling, education, and support to employees.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive health information with professionalism.
Knowledge of mental health awareness and wellness programs.
Ability to manage stress and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
