Job Description
Overview:
An Architectural AutoCAD Operator is responsible for creating accurate architectural drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software, based on the design specifications provided by architects and engineers. They play a crucial role in translating conceptual designs into technical blueprints for use in construction and permitting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Drafting and Design Support
- Prepare detailed 2D architectural drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details based on architectural concepts or sketches.
- Create 3D models and visualizations when required (depending on software proficiency such as SketchUp, Revit, or Lumion).
- Update existing CAD drawings to reflect design changes or construction revisions.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with architects, engineers, and other design team members to ensure drawings align with project specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing (MEP) CAD operators to resolve drawing conflicts.
- Attend coordination meetings if necessary.
Standards and Documentation
- Ensure all drawings adhere to local standards and regulations (e.g., National Building Code of the Philippines, BP 344 – Accessibility Law).
- Maintain accurate records and organized digital filing systems of drawings and revisions.
- Apply company CAD standards and layer management for consistency.
Technical Accuracy
- Perform cross-checking and quality control on own work and occasionally that of peers.
- Identify discrepancies between architectural drawings and consultant plans and raise issues for resolution.
Printing and Submissions
- Prepare and plot drawings for client presentation, bidding, and building permit applications.
- Assist in the compilation of drawing sets and transmittals.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of BS Architecture, Drafting Technology, or related technical/vocational course
- Proficient in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, or Lumion is a plus
- Familiarity with Philippine architectural standards and building codes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
- Good time management and organizational skills
