Job Description

JOB TITLE: Bartender (Palau - Abroad)

REPORTS TO: Bar and Restaurant Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Prepares and serves drinks to guests.

• Knows how to mix and match ingredients in order to create classic and innovative drinks in accordance with guest’s needs and expectations.

• Interacts with hotel guest and ensures that they have a great experience at the Bar.

• Maintains a positive guest interaction while accurately mixing and serving beverages to guests and servers in a friendly and efficient manner.

• Keeps that bar counter and work area neat and clean at all times.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Interacts with guests, take orders for drinks and snacks.
2. Plans and presents bar menu.
3. Serves snacks and drinks to the customer.
4. Checks identification of the guest to make sure they meet age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
5. Prepares ingredients for cocktails and other drinks.
6. Mixes drinks, cocktails and other beverages as ordered and in compliance with hotel standard drink recipes.
7. Prepares alcohol or non alcohol beverages.
8. Serves wine and beer to guests.
9. Arranges bottles and glasses to make attractive displays.
10. Assesses guests’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
11. Knows how to influence others for up selling and suggestive selling.
12. Provides recommendations and suggestions to guest for choosing Drinks and Snacks.
13. Serves guests in a friendly and helpful manner.
14. Provides guidance to guests on hotel activities, dining options and general hotel information.
15. Determines when a guest has had too much alcohol and if required refusing any further serving on a polite way.
16. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus and promotions.
17. Handles and moves objects such as glasses and bottles, using hands and arms.
18. Cleans up after guests and cleans work area.
19. Clear ashtrays as and when required.
20. Washes glassware and utensils after each use.
21. Maintains a clean working area by sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of glass doors and windows, etc. if required.
22. Performs physical activities such as lifting and stooping.
23. Maintains liquor inventory and consumption.
24. Prepares inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies.
25. Ensures that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests.
26. Stays focused on guest and nurture an excellent guest experience.
27. Complies with all food and beverage regulations
28. Works closely with other departments that are essential to ensuring a positive guest experience.
29. Assists other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships.
30. Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Management from time to time.

PREREQUISITES:
Excellent communication skills. Ability to remain calm while under pressure. Good personality and positive interpersonal skills required.

EDUCATION:
College graduate or diploma in hotel or other related field. Computer knowledge and experience in MS office programs.

EXPERIENCE:
Previous bartending experience required in a Hotel or Bar & Restaurant. Experience in handling
POS terminals and Stock and Inventory management software.
