Job Description

The Light and Heavy Equipment Mechanic Helper assists experienced mechanics in the repair and maintenance of light and heavy machinery, ensuring all equipment runs efficiently and is safe to operate. This role involves working with various tools, assisting in troubleshooting mechanical problems, and providing support during repair tasks.

1. Assist with Equipment Maintenance & Repairs:
• Help in the inspection, cleaning, and basic repair of light and heavy machinery (e.g., trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and cranes).
• Assist in replacing worn or damaged parts, such as belts, hoses, filters, and spark plugs.
• Help with oil changes, tire repairs, and fluid checks.
2. Operate Hand and Power Tools:
• Safely use basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers) and power tools (impact wrenches, drills, grinders) under the guidance of the mechanic.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment after use.
3. Prepare and Maintain Equipment and Parts:
• Clean parts, components, and machinery to ensure optimal functionality.
• Organize and manage inventory of parts and tools required for repairs.
• Transport parts and equipment to the work area.
4. Assist in Heavy Lifting and Moving Equipment:
• Help with lifting, moving, and positioning heavy machinery or components as needed.
• Assist in using hoists, jacks, and cranes to move parts and equipment.
5. General Support:
• Provide general assistance to the lead mechanic or supervisor as required.
• Perform routine checks on equipment and ensure that it is ready for use.
• Assist with organizing work areas, cleaning, and maintaining shop cleanliness.

REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of 2 years Vocational course in Auto-Diesel Mechanic
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience assisting in repairing and maintaining light and heavy equipment.
Ability to lift and carry heavy parts and tools, stand for long periods, and work in various environmental conditions.
Technical certification or vocational training in heavy equipment repair is preferred.
