Job Description
The Tariff Classifier Head is responsible for overseeing the accuracy and compliance of all import documentation related to the
classification of goods. This role ensures that imported items are properly classified under the Harmonized System (HS) and that all
documents adhere to applicable customs regulations and internal company standards. The role also involves managing a team,
ensuring continuous compliance with regulatory changes, and identifying opportunities for process improvement within the import
documentation workflow.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review and verify the accuracy of encoded import documents, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of
lading, and customs declarations.
• Ensure all import documents comply with applicable customs regulations and internal company policies.
• Coordinate with data entry personnel to correct any inaccuracies or inconsistencies in documentation.
• Maintain a well-organized and accessible archive of import records for audit and compliance purposes.
• Lead, train, and guide team members on documentation standards and updates to regulatory requirements.
• Report recurring documentation issues and recommend process enhancements to improve data accuracy and
operational efficiency.
Qualifications
• Must be a Licensed Customs Broker.
• Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of customs laws, tariff classification systems (e.g., HS Code), and trade regulations.
• Proven ability to supervise a team and implement process improvements.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
