Job Description
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and operation of all engineering systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety, in a high-rise hotel environment. This role ensures that the building is maintained in the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and comfort for both guests and staff. The Chief Engineer leads a team of technicians and maintenance personnel and collaborates with all departments to support hotel operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and maintain all hotel physical facilities and equipment.
Lead daily engineering operations and supervise maintenance staff.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
Respond promptly to guest and operational issues affecting facilities or services.
Monitor and manage energy consumption and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and company policies.
Coordinate with contractors and vendors for repairs and installations.
Maintain records of maintenance activities, budgets, inspections, and safety drills.
Ensure efficient operation of elevators, fire alarm systems, HVAC systems, and water supply.
Collaborate with other departments to support renovations or capital improvement projects.
Develop and control the department budget and manage inventory of supplies and tools.
Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments of the property.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or Engineering Manager in a high-rise or luxury hotel.
Technical degree or certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering.
In-depth knowledge of building systems: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and elevators.
Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS).
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Ability to manage budgets and maintenance schedules.
Knowledge of safety, security, and environmental standards.
Hands-on problem solver with the ability to multitask and work under pressure.
Availability to respond to emergencies on a 24/7 basis.
