Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Must have similar internship experience.
- Must have experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Must have experience with MySQL.
- Must have experience with database backup and recovery procedures.
- Must have understanding of database security practices and user access controls.​
- Must have understanding of database performance metrics and monitoring tools.
- Must have skills in identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.​

Job Description
- Install, configure, and administer databases along with their components to ensure optimal uptime, performance, and security in line with agreed service levels.
- Provide assistance to personnel in data center operations, applications management, and risk management, offering insights to optimize application designs.
- Engage with database vendors regarding product updates, fixes, and support requirements, and periodically review vendor performance against Service Level Agreements.
- Regularly monitor the health and performance of assigned databases, reporting statuses to senior team members.
- Conduct routine housekeeping tasks such as system-level backups, cleanup of unnecessary components, and vendor preventive maintenance.
- Maintain and update documentation detailing the configuration of assigned databases and components.
- Analyze system data to recommend and implement changes aimed at improving performance, managing capacity, and addressing inefficiencies.
- Adhere to policies related to configuration management, change management, availability management, security, and patch management.
- Perform root cause assessments for issues encountered and recommend permanent solutions.
- Identify recurring tasks suitable for automation and implement appropriate solutions.
- Collect historical statistics to forecast future growth, set necessary thresholds, and initiate resource allocations as needed.
- Undertake other functions as may be assigned from time to time.
