Your Role:

As a Web Developer, you will:

Handle a mix of front-end and back-end development tasks, collaborate effectively with teams, manage ongoing maintenance, and contribute to the overall improvement of the company’s web presence and applications.

Front-End Development
Build and maintain the user-facing part of websites or applications using languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Develop, customise, and integrate content management systems (CMS) like WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla to allow non-technical users to manage website content easily.
Back-End Development
Write server-side code using languages like PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, or Node.js to create and maintain web applications.
Develop APIs and integrate external services with the website or application for data exchange and functionality expansion.
Manage databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB), ensuring data integrity, efficient queries, and proper security measures.
Web Application Maintenance
Troubleshoot and fix bugs, performance issues, or security vulnerabilities that arise in the website or application.
Regularly update and optimise the code to improve performance and user experience.
Maintain and enhance existing codebases, refactoring as needed for scalability and maintainability.
Testing & Debugging
Conduct both unit and integration tests to ensure the website or web application functions as expected.
Debug errors across different environments (e.g., development, staging, production) and resolve issues quickly.
Website Security
Implement security best practices, such as securing APIs, protecting against SQL injection, Cross-Site Scripting (XSS), and other vulnerabilities.
Monitor and regularly update systems, frameworks, and libraries to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest security patches.
Mobile-Friendly Development
Ensure websites and web applications are fully responsive, adjusting for mobile and tablet devices.
Test and optimise features to work efficiently on different screen sizes and devices.
API Integration & Development
Develop and integrate APIs to connect web applications with external services, third-party platforms, or mobile apps.
Ensure smooth and secure data exchange between systems.
Documentation
Write technical documentation for codebases, APIs, and workflows to make future maintenance easier and to help other team members understand the project.
Document processes, installation guides, and code deployment instructions.

What You Need:
Non-negotiables

5+ years of hands-on experience in web development, with a proven track record of developing and maintaining websites or web applications
Experience with both front-end and back-end development (full-stack development)
Front-End: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js).
Back-End: Knowledge of server-side languages such as PHP, Python and Node.js
Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL)
Experience with front-end frameworks like Bootstrap and JavaScript libraries like jQuery.
Experience working with popular CMS platforms like WordPress
Ability to develop custom themes, plugins, or modules for these systems
Knowledge of deploying websites and web applications to hosting platforms (e.g., AWS, DigitalOcean, or traditional web hosts)
