Job Description

A motorcycle mechanic is responsible for diagnosing faults, repairing, replacing parts, and performing routine maintenance services on motorcycles, including inspecting, servicing engines, brakes, electrical systems, and other components, to ensure optimal performance and safety standards; they may also fit tires and customize accessories depending on the specific role and shop requirements.

Key responsibilities:
Diagnosis and repair:
Identify and diagnose mechanical issues on motorcycles, including engine problems, electrical faults, brake issues, and transmission malfunctions.
Routine maintenance:
Perform regular servicing tasks like oil changes, tire pressure checks, fluid level checks, spark plug replacements, and chain adjustments.
Part replacement:
Replace worn or damaged parts on motorcycles, including tires, brakes, clutches, batteries, and various engine components.
Overhaul services:
Perform major repairs like engine overhauls, carburetor adjustments, and complete system rebuilds.
Safety inspections:
Conduct thorough inspections to ensure motorcycles meet safety standards and are roadworthy.
Customer interaction:
Explain repair needs to customers, provide estimates, and discuss maintenance schedules.
Required skills:
Technical knowledge: Deep understanding of motorcycle mechanics, including engine systems, electrical circuits, braking systems, and transmission operations.
Diagnostic skills: Ability to identify problems by analyzing symptoms, using diagnostic tools, and performing tests.
Hand dexterity: Precise hand skills to handle small parts and perform intricate repairs.
