Job Description

Industrial electricians are responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical systems and equipment in a plant or factory setting. Their duties include:
Reading and interpreting: Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and electrical code specifications
Installing and maintaining: Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing electrical components like wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, and lighting fixtures
Testing and troubleshooting: Testing electrical and electronic equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance
Maintaining records: Keeping logs of all repair and maintenance activities
Ensuring compliance: Ensuring that all mechanical components and wiring are up to date and code compliant
Training and instructing: Training employees on proper actions to take and observing the work of apprentices and helpers
Preparing materials: Preparing material lists for electrical installation and maintenance
Obtaining permits: Obtaining permits for electrical repairs from Codes Administration
