Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented General Accountant to join our finance team. As an AU General Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, and ensuring adherence to accounting principles, policies, and procedures. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, improve efficiencies, and implement best practices for financial reporting. Additionally, you will play a key role in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Management of ancillary revenue streams, including invoicing and debtor management
2. Management of sales settlements including commission invoicing and review of final payments.
3. Daily bank reconciliations
4. All general accounting duties - including reconciliation, monthly customer invoicing and debtor management.
5. Weekly vendor payments
6. Ownership of the general ledger and its coding and classing accuracy
7. End of Month processes including internal recovery journals, prepayments, and accruals
8. Preparation of monthly group reporting and analysis
9. Balance sheet management and monthly reconciliation
10. Support and work closely with the accounts assistant (Accts Payable)
11. Assistance with the annual budgeting process
12. Liaise and provide relevant information for external and internal audits.
13. Support continuous improvement in accounting procedures and systems.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
2. Must have at least 1 year of experience in Australian public practice in Bookkeeping
3. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in AU Accounting with a focus on Australian clients preferably real estate-based.
4. Proficiency in accounting software. (Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks)
5. Strong English communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
7. Proficient computer skills including Microsoft programs, particularly Excel.
8. Sound knowledge of costing and management accounting practices.
9. Good understanding of Australian tax principles including GST and FBT.
10. Excellent time management skills.
11. Ability to work with a diverse range of people.
12. Reliable internet connection & home office setup. (Preferably i5 specs and 60 MBPS speed.)
13. Can start ASAP.
Note: We can offer a higher salary if the candidate's experience meets the requirements.
