Job Description
The Aqua-Business/Marketing Specialist will provide expert consultancy services during the product development phase of the fisheries project. The specialist will guide cooperatives in securing quality certifications for their products and developing strategies to market these products to a wider market, thereby enhancing income generation for mussel and seaweed growers.
Responsibilities:
Market Development:
● Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote marine products to broader markets, including regional, national, and international markets.
● Identify and establish market linkages and partnerships with potential buyers, distributors, and retailers.
● Organize promotional events, trade shows, and exhibitions to showcase products and expand market reach.
Capacity Building:
● Conduct training sessions and workshops for cooperatives on product development, quality assurance, and marketing strategies.
● Provide ongoing support and mentorship to cooperatives to build their skills and knowledge in aqua-business and marketing.
Product Development:
● Provide expert guidance on the development of value-added marine products, ensuring they meet market demands and quality standards.
● Collaborate with the Project Manager and cooperatives to identify and create innovative products that can diversify and enhance the product portfolio.
● Conduct market research to understand consumer preferences and trends in the marine product sector.
Quality Certification:
● Guide cooperatives through the process of obtaining relevant quality certifications for their products.
● Ensure all products meet national and international quality and safety standards.
● Provide training and capacity building to cooperatives on maintaining quality standards.
Monitoring and Reporting:
● Monitor the progress of product development and marketing activities, ensuring they align with project goals and timelines.
● Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Project Manager, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
● Ensure all activities comply with donor and organizational policies and guidelines.
Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
● Minimum of 5 years of experience in aqua-business, marketing, or related fields, with a focus on product development and market expansion.
● Proven track record in obtaining quality certifications for products and developing successful marketing strategies.
● Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to identify market trends and consumer preferences.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
● Fluency in Tagalog and English.
Reporting:
The Aqua-Business/Marketing Specialist will report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with the project team and cooperatives to ensure the successful development and marketing of marine products.
