PLC Electrician

POSITION SUMMARY:
A skilled PLC Electrician works on any types of manufacturing machineries. You will be analyzing system requirements, writing and installing custom programmable logic code, testing system efficiency, and providing operational support.

To ensure success as a PLC Electrician, you should have excellent knowledge of machine mechanics, a logical approach, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Works with all departments to meet or surpass the plant’s safety goals
2. Recommends and implements continuous improvement on equipment and system design through use of the team concept. Support project planning and execution
3. Follows all GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices)
4. Troubleshoots through PLC’s
5. Ability to write program changes
6. Able to fix process issues
7. Programs and replaces VFD’s
8. Capable of retrieving and downloading programs into HMI’s (human machine interface)
9. Performs troubleshooting and equipment repairs as needed to minimize downtime
10. Installs/ repairs/ maintains all types of electrical equipment including PLC’s, wiring, motor starters, switches, motors, actuators, valves, auxiliary contacts, breaker, etc.
11. Reads and understands all types of blueprints and CAD drawings
12. Operates power tools, hand tools, and electrical and instrument test equipment to install, maintain, and troubleshoot plant equipment
13. Performs all necessary documentation of work performed and any unusual conditions, or defective equipment with the highest accuracy possible in SAP
14. Executes Quality PM’s as assigned
15. Executes ownership of tools and shop by maintaining good housekeeping and a clean and orderly work area.
16. Conduct training for other associates in area of responsibility
17. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate superior.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's degree in software engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a similar field.
2. PLC technical certification.
3. At least 3 years’ experience as a PLC programmer.
4. Knowledge of software design principals.
5. Proficiency in CAD and AutoCAD software.
6. Detailed knowledge of PLC automation software and coding languages.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Electrical and mechanical engineering experience is an advantage
2. In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and mechanical processes.
3. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
