Guidance Counselor

The Guidance Counselor is entrusted with the following duties and responsibilities:
1. oversees the personnel under the Guidance, Counseling and Testing Office (GCTO) for the effective execution of counseling duties;
2. coordinates with the KCP administration and management team the activities and programs offered by the Guidance, Counseling and Testing Office (GCTO);
3. represents the Guidance, Counseling and Testing Office (GCTO) within KCP administration as well as outside organizations on matters associated with counseling;
4. coordinates and discusses with deans and principals some student concerns arising from counseling conducted;
5. attends all appropriate meetings, conferences, trainings, seminars pertaining but not limited to the improvement of GCTO;
6. recommends the approval of the leave requests of GCTO Personnel;
7. establishes and strengthens counseling networks and linkages with government and non-government agencies;
8. recommends and coordinates with the HRMO regarding hiring and firing of personnel under the GCTO;
9. initiates the conduct of research studies pertinent to the delivery of student counseling services;
10. conducts monthly or emergency meetings for updates on student counseling-related issues;
11. prepares and submits action plans that will serve as guide for the Office in the accomplishment of the Institution’s vision, mission and objectives;
12. submits semestral and special reports as requested by the KCP Management; and
13. implements all programs and activities such as counseling, placement, and other services related to student welfare;
14. is responsible in training and developing the leadership potentials of each student for effective community development services;
15. coordinates all unit activities to enrich the student - experience in the Institution;
16. evaluates the aforesaid activities through the use of appropriate evaluation mechanisms;
17. uses an integrated approach to the development of a well-functioning individual primarily by helping him/her to utilize his/her potentials to the fullest and plans his/her present and future in accordance with his/her abilities, interests, and needs;
18. implements programs and activities such as counseling, psychological testing, learning and study orientation, placement, referral and group processes; and
19. perform other appended duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or other higher authorities.
